New District Centre plans to go on show in Ingol

Cottam Hall Properties, the developer behind the £80 million site at Cottam Brickworks is to host a public consultation.

The developer will showcase its revised plans for the site on January 15, 2015 at St Margaret's Church, off Tag Lane, 1A St Margaret's Close, Ingol. The plans will be on show from 12.00 noon to 8.00pm.

The site recently gained new prominence when the City Council identified the Brickworks as the site for a District Centre at the heart of North Preston serving a major new housing programme as well as existing housing.

The 28 acre site currently has planning permission for a supermarket, 206 residential units, a pub/restaurant, retail and commercial uses.

Ian Rankin, director of Cottam Hall Properties said: “We’ve already consulted with a wide range of stakeholders and they are very supportive of the scheme. Shops and amenities are sorely missing from this part of Preston and in addition to the canal side residential area, there will be footpaths and cycle ways to Cottam, the City centre, the UCLan Sports Arena and alongside the canal to open country.

“We have also created a nature reserve which will be a centre of interest for schools and the local community. It will be a very complete development, well served by public transport. Sustainability has been a key priority."
